The aim of the study is to investigate whether a minority group can influence a bigger group through conformity. Four subjects were placed inside a room with two confederates and the experimenter. Subjects were deceived that the two confederates were participants just like them. The subjects were asked to judge whether different shades of blue-green cards were blue or green. The two confederates were instructed to give the wrong answer consistently.

We're not talking about Pierre Moscovici, we're talking about Serge Moscovici, who carried out the famous minority group experiment...

STRENGTHS:
1) Research is well controlled and has been replicated.
2) Ethical concern: deception, but subjects were debriefed.
LIMITATIONS:
1) Cannot be generalised to a larger population due to small sample size.
2) Has no ecological validity since this experiment is carried out in the laboratory.
3) Culture bias is present as only the population of United Stated were used.

Do you guys know that the minority of the two confederates were able to influence 32% of the participants to give a wrong answer. So, basically, it can be concluded that when a minority maintains a consistent view, it is able to influence the majority.
